Ameco won the first
prize in the campaign of "Trying to be excellent mechanics of 21st
century"
On June 22nd, an Open Contest focusing on technical
skills of mechanics was held by The Trade Union of Air China for the
first time. Seven teams from Ameco, Tianjin and Inner Mongolia branches,
and others entered the competition. The questions in the contest, which
were defined by Air China EMD, mainly focused on technical knowledge,
safety rules and airworthiness regulations. Three parts were included:
compulsory, optional and rushing to answer. The contest was conducted in
the lively atmosphere. Finally the 3rd team of Ameco won the first
prize. The 1st and 2nd teams of Inner Mongolia branch won the 2nd prize.
The 1st and 2nd teams of Tianjin branch and the 1st and 2nd teams of
Ameco won the third prize. Awards were issued to winners by Mr. Wu
Xuyong, Deputy Department Manager of Supervision, Airworthiness Division
of CAAC, and Mr. Wang Yanjie, Chairman of Air China Trade Union.

Ameco
won the bid
for B767 heavy maintenance for Egypt Air
On June 18, Ameco
won the bid for B767 8C+S8C-check for
Egypt Air. This is Ameco's first time to perform B767 overhaul for
international customer, before which, Ameco
had ever performed B747,
B737 D-check for various international customers.
In October of 2000 Ameco
performed the first B737
D-Check for Egypt Air. Ameco's success in this
bidding shows Egypt Air's trust and confidence to it. The performance
will be started on July 7.Back
Ameco delegation
visited CSA and GAMECO
On June 14 -15, Ameco's 5-person delegation led by
General Managers Mr. Ma and Mr. Heerdt visited China Southern Airlines
and GAMECO. During the visit, Ameco
delegation paid a call on Mr. Jiang
Ping, Vice President of CSA, Mr. Yuan Xinan, Chief Engineer and the
leaders from CSA EMD. Mr. Ma Kuiliang, General Manager & CEO
expressed his sincere gratitude to CSA for their long-term support and
solicited CSA's comments and suggestion on Ameco's future work.
Furthermore, both sides discussed the feasible way for future
cooperation. After that, Ameco
delegation toured GAMECO's facilities.Back
Challenges to young men
Around the turn of May and June, the university graduates
joining Ameco
in 1999 participated the "Outward Challenge", a
two-terms survival and challenge training organized by Human Resource
Division. This activity, aiming at promoting employees' perseverance and
team spirit, was part of company's integration program for new comers.
Totally 57 employees took part in the training, during which they
actively joined each item and made summary and discussion after it for
better communication and learning. After the completion of training, the
participants thought positively the effects of the training in promoting
trainees' adaptability and team spirit.

Manfred Gaertner holds the
post of Financial & Accounting Deputy Director of Ameco
Being approved by Board of Directors of Ameco, Mr.
Manfred Gaertner holds the post of Finance and Accounting Deputy
Director of Ameco. Mr. Gaertner was born in Germany on July 29, 1959 and
joined LH since 1981. He had ever been manager of Human Resources at LH
Sky Chefs in Stuttgart and Suedflug GmbH in Kriftel. He assumed the post
of Vice President of Financial & administration at LH CityLine GmbH
in Kriftel and Koeln in 1995.Back

completed
Section 41 Modification for the first B747 of EL AL
On May 27, Ameco
completed Section 41 Mod and repainting
for a Boeing 747 of the EL AL Israel Airlines. After two hours, the
second B747 was coming into the hangar for the same work. Unlike other
Section 41 work before, the modification for the aircraft of EL AL is
concerned with replacement of aircraft frames in nine segments of upper,
middle and lower compartments in Section 41, ranking the largest in
scale ever done at Ameco.

delegation visit Ameco On May 22, accompanied by Dr. Hans Christian
Ueberschaer,
German Ambassador to China, a delegation led by Mr. Kurt Bodewig,
Minister of German Transportation & Building & Housing visited Ameco. The guests visited
Ameco
components repair shops and 4-bay
hangar. Ameco General Managers, Mr. Ma Kuiliang and Mr. Heerdt made a
presentation to the guests about Ameco's development during the past 12
years.
At the time when China's entry to WTO, this high ranking delegation's
visit to Ameco
will play a positive role for the further cooperation

completed C-Check
for two B747 of Air Atlanta Icelandic
From May 13 to 20, 2001, Ameco
consecutively
completed C-Check, FQIS modification, partial painting and
anti-corrosion for two B747 of Air Atlanta Icelandic. Mr. Saverins,
supervisor of Air Atlanta Icelandic said that he was deeply impressed by
Ameco's advanced equipment, facilities and employees' great
conscientiousness.Back

Holds 25th
Board Meeting
The 25th board meeting of Ameco was held on May 11, 2001 in Frankfurt, Germany. Mr Fu Baoxin is chairman
of Ameco's board of directors. Mr Li Jianjun, Director of Aircraft
Engineering Department of Air China, became a new member of the board.
