Letter
of intent on RB211 engine repair signed between Ameco and HAESL
On
Dec.3, 2003, Ameco and HAESL signed a letter of intent on RB211
engine repair. Dr. Hans Schmitz, General Manager and Mr. Ni Jiliang,
Subdivision Manager of Engine Services represented Ameco at the
signing ceremony in Hong Kong. The agreement is aiming at a
strategic partnership in the Chinese RB211 market to provide more
competitive services and prices to the customers.

Customer conference on RB211 was held
From November 14 to 16, Ameco held RB211 Engine Services Symposium at Bangkok, Thailand. Delegates from Air China, Air China Southwest Airlines, China Xinjiang Airlines and Rolls & Royce participated in the conference. Mr. He Li, General Manager & CEO, Dr. Schmitz, General Manager attended the conference and delivered speeches respectively and expressed their sincere gratitude for the customers' long term support and understanding.
Also at the conference, Mr. Zhu Xiao, Senior Director of Marketing & Sales
introduced Ameco's capability on RB211 engines, the situation and development trend of the market. Besides, Mr. Ni Jiliang and Mr.
Femerling, Subdivision Managers of Engine Services gave a presentation on the delivery performance, quality and TAT provided by Ameco for this type of engines.
In the conference, Ameco representatives exchanged their views on RB211 engines services with the customers. "Ameco needs to fully utilize various market resources and deepen cooperation with airlines and OEMs so as to develop capabilities and further extend service scope," said Mr. Ma Kuiliang, Vice President of Air China. Some other customer representatives also put forward their comments and raised expectations to Ameco. Ameco will take the suggestions of the customers and optimize work procedures accordingly in order to enhance the competitiveness in RB211 services.

Ameco participated in 3rd Asian MRO Conference
The third Asian MRO Conference was held from Nov.11 to 13 at Bangkok, Thailand. The conference this time was held on a larger scale compared with the former ones despite the down turn caused by SARS epidemic. As a major player at Asia MRO market, Ameco for the third time participated in the conference.
In recent years, the Chinese Market, with the greatest development potential, attracts the attention of OEMs and overseas aviation organizations. Mr. Zheng Yan, Executive Director,
Marketing and Support, and Mr. Wernicke, Executive Director of Engine/Component/Facility
Division delivered speeches at the conference. In a speech named "Rising East", Mr. Zheng Yan made an in-depth analysis on the development trend of Chinese market, environmental changes, customers' demand and opportunities & challenges, which aroused the interest of the sponsor and the participants present at the conference. After the conference, many of them had talks with Mr. Zheng on the topics he raised at the presentation.
At the conference, the delegates from Korea Airlines, Thailand Airlines and Vietnam Airlines visited the booth of Ameco and had discussions with Ameco representatives on mutual cooperation issues. This event provides an opportunity for Ameco to show its images to the publics, open up an avenue to communicate with the customers and build up the reputation of the company.

Ameco to attend Dubai Air Show as the only MRO Provider from China Mainland
The 8th Dubai International Aerospace Exhibition will take place at the Airport Expo, Dubai, United Arab Emirates from Dec 7 to 11, 2003. Ameco will participate with an own stand for the second time. After 2001, Ameco has already established many friendly relations and co-operations in the region. A mumber of aircraft, mostly B747 viisited Ameco Beijing for major checks and modification programs.

Ameco completed cockpit upgrade on a B747-200 of Dubai Airwing
On October 25, 2003, Ameco completed D-check and a ¡°Glass Cockpit Upgrade¡± for B747-200 of Dubai Airwing including installation of EFIS, FMS, EGPWS, EGPWS, SATCOM, ACARS, IRS, TCAS and weather radar,etc. Mr. John Sambolec, VP of Dubai Airwing, expressed his own-all satisfaction with this project.
Ameco is the first company in China to do such system upgrade aircraft. Up to now, the entire program was performed in cooperation with Lufthansa
Technik.

Ameco
donated for country school reconstruction
On October 16,2003, the foundation ceremony for school building of Ameco Middle School(the original Huo Doushan Middle School) was held at the Luanping country of Hebei province. Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Corporation, Beijing (Ameco) donated 235,000 RMB for this building reconstruction project. Mr. He Li, CEO&GM of Ameco, and Dr. Hans Schmitz, GM of Ameco were in for the ceremony.
In 1996, Ameco set up moral education base together with Huo Doushan Middle School of Luanping country of Hebei province to support the development of education project. In the past 7 years, Ameco gave study equipments, books, to the students and built laboratory and computer classroom for them. From this November on, Ameco will assign 2 younth volunteers to Ameco Middle School to teach English courses and train the teachers. Besides that, Ameco is considering to recruit the excellent students into Ameco Apprentice School. Ameco is deciding to persist this project for a long time.

successfully completed th 5th B767 overhaul for Thomas Cook AG
On the morning of October 6, An aircraft Redelivery Ceremony was held in the four-bay hangar to Celebrate Ameco has successfully accomplished 5 B767 Aircraft Overhauls of Thomas Cook AG.
Mr. He Li, CEO and General Manager, Dr. Schmitz, new General Manager, Mr. Ma Kuiliang, VP of Air China, Mr. Decher, the top manager of Thomas Cook AG, the crew members, the related leaders and some employees participated the ceremony.
Mr. Decher highly appraised the staff of Ameco and their good performance. He said, ¡°Ameco is truly among the best in the industry, especially the quality of the work as well as the determination and customer orientation of people. We are very happy about the friendship between our 2 companies and the people which will last longer than this project!¡±
Mr. He Li gave sincere thanks to the staff who had done the important contribution to this project. He said,
"Without the joint efforts of Ameco's staff, we would not have made such a great achievement. The hard work that we have performed makes us set up a friendly tie with Thomas Cook AG. Our goal is to add value to customers¡¯ fleet. Let us work harder, hand in hand, to provide quality services to our customers and make the best delivery performance.¡±
Dr. Schmitz, new General Manager was very happy to saw this scene at the first day to start his work at Ameco. He said, ¡°This is my first action as GM at Ameco, the team of Ameco gave me a big gift. Ameco has built the confidence on the products all round the world. I am confident that we will offer our customers the best services in the next future under our effort together.¡±
The earlier of this year, Ameco signed a long-term contract on 8 B767 aircraft overhaul with Thomas Cook AG. This is one of the three long-term contracts with the international customers. Ameco has accomplished 5 aircraft for customers; the next three layovers will be performed in the next year.

Ameco¡¯s first maintenance team performed modifications overseas
On Oct.6, a ten-person team of Ameco left from Beijing Capital International Airport for Hochiminh, a city of Vietnam, to perform cockpit door modifications on six B767-300 owned by Vietnam Airlines. It is the first time that Ameco sent maintenance staff abroad to perform maintenance tasks. This indicates that Ameco¡¯s maintenance capabilities outside of Beijing have reached the international standard.
In recent years, Vietnam Airlines grows fast. It has various types of aircrafts such as B767, B777 and A320 etc. Before the excursion to Vietnam, Ameco had completed an overhaul work for its B767 with excellent delivery performance and won great satisfaction from the customer. The fact that Ameco is selected for the second time by Vietnam Airlines to undertake cockpit door modifications shows that our capabilities as FAA/JAA certificated repair station are recognized internationally. We firmly believe that Ameco will get more chances to serve international customers likewise.

Calibration & Testing Center (CTC) is set up at
Ameco
Calibration & Testing Center (CTC) held its inaugural meeting at Ameco in the morning of Sept.30,2003. Mr. He Li, CEO & GM, proclaimed the founding of the calibration center and announced the appointment of Mr. Wang Xuemin as Head of CTC. The establishment of the calibration center marks that the domestic calibration and testing industry has reached a new level in terms of organizational structure, production management and capabilities of research & development.
Having its quality assurance system and maintenance capabilities well recognized by CAAC, Ameco, as the exclusive CAAC-appointed calibration service provider for China¡¯s aviation industry, has a great chance to develop its calibration & testing capabilities. Taking this opportunity, Ameco is determined to transform its old production-style laboratory to a state-of-art one combining production and management functions together and manifesting the highest level of domestic calibration & testing industry.

new General Manager, Dr. Hans Schmitz
Effective October 6th, Dr Hans Schmitz will take over the responsibilities of General Manager at Ameco.
Dr. Hans Schmitz joined Lufthansa on July 1981. His experience in Lufthansa includes Vice President Purchasing, Senior Vice President Strategic Projects and Senior Vice President Material Planning. Before his new position in Ameco, he has worked in Lufthansa Technik as Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales.

Sept.17 to 20, the 10th Beijing Airshow was held successfully. The participated enterprises cut 10% by influence of SARS. However, almost all the world aviation manufacturers and MRO with famous brand gathered for holding more chance of development. Ameco exhibited a fresh image to visitors: the area of booth is the biggest compared with previous ones; series of latest capability introduction brochures and leaflets are prepared to show its domestic advanced status.

Ameco Aviation College passed audit of ISO certificate renewal
In August 2003, Ameco Aviation College (AAC) passed the audit of ISO certificate renewal. As the first aircraft maintenance training organization approved by ISO9001 (version 1994), AAC has re-described the quality system and revised its documentation according to the new requirements of ISO9001 (version 2000). The new quality system, which is process oriented, is designed to achieve better customer satisfaction and thus to assure the continuous improvement of AAC training quality.

July 30, Ameco signed long-term contract on engine overhaul with
Xiamen Airlines. Ameco will provide RM211-535E4 engine services its
Boeing757 fleet. Mr. Li Hongfen, Deputy Chief Engineer of
Xiamen Airlines and Mr. Zheng Yan, Executive Director of Ameco
signed the contract.
