Ameco Beijing further develops repair capability on engines
On July26 Air China¡¯s PW4000 engine SN 727498 passed test-cell after the refurbishment at Ameco Beijing (Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Co.). This was the first engine with a Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) Stator and Duct Assembly fully overhauled in-house Ameco Beijing.
Since Ameco Beijing developed overhaul capability on PW4000 engines in 1995, it had to subcontract LPC Stator and Duct Assembly for overhaul to oversea providers, which negatively impacted the cost and turn times.
In 2002 Ameco Beijing set up a project to develop in-house capability for this major compressor assembly.
Because of strict repair requirements from the engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney and the difficult access to these parts it was a very challenging project.
Silicon Rubber filling and sealing raise high demand to the temperature, humidity and cleanness of work environment. Therefore Ameco Beijing designed and constructed a special workshop and an air shower path to separate the wok area and non-work area.
Having mastered the silicon rubber filling and sealing techniques, Ameco Beijing becomes the first Chinese MRO provider who has complete capability on PW4000 LPC Stator and Duct Assembly overhaul.
