The first PW4000 and CFM56-3 engine fuel pump overhaul completed

Recently, Ameco Beijing for the first time successfully completed fuel pump overhaul on an Air China¡¯s PW4000 engine and one CFM56-3 engine, which marks Ameco Beijing has acquired the fuel control/fuel pump overhaul capabilities on both PW4000 and CFM56-3 engines.

Ameco Beijing is the first maintenance base holding PW4000/CFM56/V2500 Engine test cell in China, which not only enhances Ameco Beijing¡¯s component maintenance ability, but also fills a gap in Chinese aviation industry. PW4000/CFM56/V2500 Engine fuel controller/fuel pump test cell is co-developed by Ameco Beijing and Civil Aviation University of China together with First Group of CNAH (China National Aviation Holding Company).

Ameco Beijing signed engine overhaul agreement with Far Eastern Air Transport

On November 14, Ameco Beijing and Far Eastern Air Transport signed a long-term engine overhaul agreement. The first RB211-535E4 engine will be delivered to the facility of Ameco Beijing for overhaul in the late November, which marks Ameco Beijing has stepped into the RB211-535E4 engine market in Taiwan. Up to now, Ameco Beijing has provided engine overhaul services for all RB211 engine operators in Asia-Pacific region.

The technical and financial management from Far Eastern Air Transport had ever visited Ameco Beijing¡¯s engine overhaul workshop and had a very good impression. It is the first cooperation between Ameco Beijing and Far Eastern Air Transport in the MRO field.

Ameco Beijing¡¯s construction of Central Warehouse is on hand

The scheduled construction of Central Warehouse begins mid-November and becomes operational by next October-end.
Ameco Beijing invested over RMB 47 million for the establishment of Central Warehouse. Its floor area is 8,011 square meters and building height 15.5 meters. The Central Warehouse can accommodate many types of civil aviation materials and standard tools for aircraft maintenance. An accessory store was opened July this year to specifically store dangerous chemicals such as paints or diluents. Construction of another material store - with an area of 1,700 square meters is attached to A380 Hangar ¨C is in progress.

Ameco Beijing plans for centralized management of materials and delivery at customer doorstep once the two material stores become operational.

Ameco Beijing signed engine overhaul agreement with Nepal Airlines

On October 28, 2007, Ameco Beijing and Nepal Airlines signed an agreement for two RB211-535E4 engines overhaul. The first engine will be delivered to the facility of Ameco Beijing for overhaul in the 46th week. The second engine will arrive in Beijing soon.

Ameco Beijing has been providing RB211 engine overhaul services for Nepal Airlines since 1997. Nepal Airlines is the first engine overhaul business international customer of Ameco Beijing and both parties have established a good long-term cooperation partnership.

Ameco Beijing and ILFC signed a GTA

Oct. 25, 2007, Ameco Beijing signed a three-year General Terms Agreement (GTA) with International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) to perform maintenance and modification services on aircraft. The agreement includes an option for prolongation over an indefinite period.

ILFC, founded in 1973, is specialized in aircraft leasing and other professional leasing business. As one of the world¡¯s leading aircraft-leasing corporations, ILFC currently has more than 1000 aircraft in its portfolio.

Ameco Beijing becomes the first MRO provider in China to have PW4000/CFM56/V2500 Fuel control/fuel pump test cell

PW4000/CFM56/V2500 Engine fuel controller/fuel pump test cell, co-developed by Ameco Beijing and Civil Aviation University of China together with First Group of CNAH (China National Aviation Holding Company), passed airworthiness appraisal of the experts from RAD airworthiness department, Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics, Civil Aviation University of China, and First Group of CNAH recently.
Ameco Beijing became the first maintenance base holding test cell of such kind in China, which not only enhances Ameco Beijing¡¯s component maintenance ability, but also fill in a gap in Chinese aviation industry.

In order to enhance Ameco Beijing¡¯s component maintenance capability and save maintenance cost, the company decided to invest in developing fuel control/fuel pump test cell in 2005. Ameco Beijing will repair the first fuel controller/fuel pump of PW4000 in this September.

Slovak Airlines selects Ameco for its engine overhaul


August 14th, Ameco signed a 5-year General Terms Agreement (GTA) with Slovak Airlines to provide RB211-535E4 engine overhaul services for its Boeing 757 fleet during the contract period.
In recent two years, Ameco¡¯s exploration of international engine overhaul market is very successful. In 2006, 25% of engine workload came from international customers including Royal Nepal Airlines, Cebu Pacific Airline, US-Airway, Ryan International Airlines, Israir, ELAL as well as the customers from European countries such as Astraeus, TES, Jet2.com, Flyjet, OEM Rolls-Royce, etc. The international market share still enjoys an up going trend.
Since Ameco engine workshop established engine RB211-535E4 overhaul capability in 1993, the overhaul on this type of engine has already become one of the knockout products. In recent years, the overhaul business on this type of engine still keeps two-digit growth.

Besides RB211-535E4 series, Ameco Beijing also provides APU repair and overhaul services for PW4000-series, JT9D-7R4G2/7R4E and GTCP85-129H.

Air India signs heavy maintenance agreement with Ameco Beijing

1 August 2007, Air India awarded C-check plus painting on one Boeing 777-200 to Ameco Beijing. Layover will be in August 8.

It¡¯s the first time that Ameco Beijing performs heavy maintenance for Air India, which is a state-owned airline in India and incorporated with Indian Airlines in early 2007.

Ameco to undertake maintenance task for Air China Boeing 787

Ameco Beijing is about to provide line maintenance and airframe overhaul for Air China Boeing 787 fleet. Ameco Beijing launched its Boeing 787 maintenance preparation work since February 2006, setting up a project team to facilitate Air China¡¯s smooth introduction of Boeing787 and the fulfilment of maintenance requirement. During this year, the preparation work concerns different areas such as training preparation, personnel qualification definition, IT infrastructure, engineering data support etc. Ameco Beijing, together with Air China, will adjust the original maintenance system as well as maintenance and operational mode to be in line with the characteristics of Boeing 787.

Ameco Welcomes New Line Maintenance Customer in Guangzhou

Ameco Beijing signed line maintenance contract with Egypt Air recently to provide full line maintenance technical services including A/C releasing for the customer¡¯s Boeing777-200 at Guangzhou (thrice-weekly service) starting from June 3, 2007.

Up to now, the number of line maintenance customers of Ameco Beijing is over 45.

Ameco Signs Centralized Component Repair Agreement with Air China

On May 25, 2007, Ameco Beijing signed centralized component subcontract agreement with Air China Ltd. Based on the agreement, Air China and its branches will deliver all the components that are listed on the agreement to Ameco Beijing for repair and overhaul in consolidated standard and price.

Before the agreement is signed, Air China¡¯s branch companies have difference requirements on component repair/overhaul and have different price levels. This agreement will facilitate Ameco better control the maintenance cost for the customers though unified repair standard and prices so as to better servicing their fleet. In addition, this also means more component workload for Ameco.

TESIS signs heavy maintenance agreement with Ameco

In May 2007, TESIS awarded 2C-check on one Boeing 747-200 to Ameco Beijing. Layover will be in early August.
It¡¯s the first time that Ameco Beijing performs heavy maintenance for this Russian airline after both parties signed General Term Agreement (GTA) on Boeing 747 heavy maintenance in the beginning of 2007.

Ameco to Provide full line maintenance technical services for ABC


On April 18, 2007, Ameco Beijing (Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Corporation) signed a line maintenance agreement with Air Bridge Cargo airlines (ABC) to provide full line maintenance technical services including A/C releasing for the customer¡¯s Boeing 747-200 aircraft at both Beijing (five weekly) and Shanghai (daily) starting from May1 this year.
In addition to this agreement, both sides signed a 1A check agreement on one Boeing 747-200 in mid of April. The 1A check will be performed in May at Beijing.
Ameco Beijing gradually expands its share in CIS¡¯s aviation market in recent years. In addition to ABC, Ameco¡¯s customers in CIS¡¯s are Transaero (Boeing fleet heavy maintenance), Aeroflot (Boeing777 heavy maintenance and line maintenance), TESIS (5-year GTA for Boeing 747 heavy maintenance), AIR-ASTANA (line maintenance) and Aerosvit Airlines (line maintenance). The total number of Ameco¡¯s international line maintenance customers is over 45.

Ryan Chooses Ameco as Its Major Engine Service Provider

Ameco Beijing and US operator Ryan International Airlines (Ryan) signed a contract to conduct engine repair and overhaul for RIA¡¯s RB211-535 engines. After Ameco overhauled two of Ryan¡¯s engines in 2006 and beginning of 2007, this contract was concluded in March of this year and is the enhancement of the five-year General Terms Agreement between the parties. It is valid for all of Ryan International Airlines¡¯ RB211-535E4 engines that power its Boeing 757 fleet.
Mark von Husen, Vice President of Procurement & Sales, Jet X Aerospace, LLC, a company, that works with Ryan, says that the first engine Ameco did last year is ¡°the strongest engine in the fleet¡± after flying in the fleet for several months and thinks ¡°it¡¯s the engine the others hope to be one day¡±. He adds that, ¡°Ameco¡¯s facility is best international standard. We get specialized care here.¡±
Ameco Beijing CEO & General Manager Chai Weixi says that, ¡°This is the first long term engine deal we have got from the North American market. It indicates that Ameco Beijing is taking a successful step into the North American engine market.¡±

Ameco and CAUC establish joint master-degree education base

On March 29, Ameco and Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) announced the establishment of joint master degree education base in Beijing. During the establishment ceremony Wu Tongshui, President of CAUC presented the board of joint master degree education base to Chai Weixi, CEO & General Manager and Andreas Meisel, General Manager of Ameco Beijing. Meanwhile, leaders from CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) and from both parties awarded letter of appointment to Ameco¡¯s part-time tutors.
The education base will adopt a ¡°dual tutor¡± system, in which tutors from both Ameco and CAUC will jointly supervise and guide postgraduate students based on the requirements of CAUC. Having completed the theory learning for one year at CAUC, the students will go to Ameco for practice training. In addition, Ameco tutors will guide the students to do paper and research, the direction of which will be recommended by Ameco.
The base offers many aviation maintenance concerned majors including Macha-tronic Engineering; Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System; Navigation, Guidance and Control; Computer Applied Technology; Safety Technology; Flight Vehicle Design; Aerospace Propulsion Theory and Engineering; Man-Machine and Environmental Engineering; Management Science and Engineering.
All Ameco tutors are advanced engineers with high professional skills, who are recommended by Ameco Beijing based on Management Method of CAUC Postgraduate Student Tutors. After been assessed by CAUC, the qualified ones will be hired as part-time postgraduate student tutors. Ameco raised the postgraduate students¡¯ research topic based on the students¡¯ major and Ameco¡¯s production and technology development needs. After being approved by CAUC, the research topic will be defined.
The establishment of the joint master degree education base is a kind of ¡°open¡± education mode. This will not only provide an opportunity for the enterprise to access to ¡°tailored¡± talent pool but also benefit the university in educating graduates who can better meet the requirements of the enterprise.
Over the years, Ameco has established a close tie with CAUC in technology development and student education. Currently Ameco already has 4 CAUC guest professors and postgraduate student tutors. After the establishment of the base, the total tutors number up to 15.

Ameco Beijing signs engine service agreement with Flyjet Ltd

Ameco Beijing signed a General Terms Agreement (GTA) with the British operator Flyjet Limited to provide overhaul services for Flyjet¡¯s RB211 engines. The first engine is delivered to the facility of Ameco at the end of March 2007.
Gene Taylor, Head of Asset Management of Flyjet appreciates ¡°the high attention Ameco paid to our requirements when offering and negotiating the contract. We are looking forward to see Ameco overhauling our engines with the same fidelity to our needs.¡±
Jan Butzmann, Senior Director, Marketing & Sales of Ameco Beijing concurred: ¡°Our sales people did an excellent job in carefully listening to the customers and transferring Flyjet¡¯s specified needs into the contract. We are certain that our customer services will adopt the same attitude when conducting the shop visits.¡±
Flyjet is Ameco¡¯s fifth customer in England following Astraeus Ltd, TES Aviation Group, Jet2.com and Rolls Royce.
As the biggest contributor to Ameco¡¯ revenue, engine services gain 62 percent of its workload from third-party customers, half of which are customers from Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and the United States.

Spain's Air Pullmantur contracts Ameco Beijing

January 17th, Air Pullmantur and Ameco Beijing signed Overhaul General Term Agreement on its Boeing747 fleet. It¡¯s the 1st time for Ameco Beijing to get aircraft overhaul order from Spain. According to contract, Ameco will start to conduct 2C-check on one Boeing 747-300 on April 11th.
